Pillar's ToB Daily Updates - Stage 8
12th Sep 2021
Stonehaven → Aberdeen
Yesterdays's Stage:
Deceuninck - Quick-Step's Yves Lampaert rides to victory after a day in the breakaway. The Belgium rider outsprinted Matteo Jorgenson of Movistar and Mathew Gibson of home team Ribble-Weldtite to take stage seven honours. After a punchy day of racing, Deceuninck - Quick-Step took advantage of the number of riders they had in the break to beautifully control the action and secure victory. The peloton rolled in two minutes behind the race leaders. Ethan Hayter still leads the overall classification ahead of Wout van Aert in second place and Julian Alaphilippe rounds of the podium in third place.
Today's Stage:
Today the tour finishes with a likely sprint finish. The last stage heads from Stonehaven to Aberdeen, with one first category climb early in the stage and two third category climb later on in the day.
After eight days of racing, who will be standing on the top set of the podium and crowned as this year's overall champion? Can Wout van Aert make up the four-second gap between him and race leader Ethan Hayter? Today's stage is certainly going to be an epic finish to this year's Tour of Britain.
